Service Description

Example 1.24 Sketch the graph of x>_3(In our case, the block cloth or blocks to use before you the x and y line strings be crossed before you with the other cloth and a different texture string for the graph.) Solution The line x=3 is vertical. Graph it as a solid line because of the inclusive inequality. (For Grandma's invention place the 'equation string' straight down the third square from the point the x and y strings intersect in the middle we will call '0'. They could be taped at that point. Now place your cloth next to the line representing x=3 and that will cover all the area for the equation x>_3.) Section Exercises For 25-27, graph and label the following inequalities. 1-25. y>_ x +1 For the graph the solid line is going to run diagonally through 1 of y and x at -1 with x and y crossing at 0. It will have a slope of 1/1. the shaded area will be to the upper left corner of the line. (To show it on our invention of the marked squares put the strings representing lines y and x at 0 and place the equation string across the 1 of the y string and the negative one of the x string.) 1-26. X>5 The graph for this will run straight through the 5 of x but it will be dotted because there is no = sign in the equation and the area to the left of that will be shaded. (For Grandma's invention maybe a separate string from the others could have dotted painted spots on it. with the square your fingers can feel an x and y strings will intersect each other at a spot we will call 0. The painted string can be placed down the squares at the 5th square to the right of their intersection. the cloth will be place to the right of that but touching it showing the shaded area.) 1-27. (the last exercise for now) 3x-2y>2, In solving for y -3x is taken from each side leaving -3x+3x -2y> -3x+2, 2y> -3x -2, y < -3x/-2 -1 or y<3x/2 -1; therefore, the graph is going to have a dotted line running diagonally through the y line at -1 and the slope will be 3 up and 2 over for the other mark for the line. (For Grandma's invention on the squares you can find 1 down on the y string to tape the painted string and follow the squares up 3 and over right 2 to place the rest of the string and tape it. The cloth should be placed on the bottom right corner of the squares.) Now you have the equation. (We will go to the next lesson to go forward from here.
