Grandma decided since this chapter is very difficult to start with and lengthy that since the scheduling is taking so much that she would split the chapter up into two parts and use this test as part of the testing for today. Then she will have it finished for tomorrow. She has decided for the new year of September the math chapters can all be split into half a chapter each week and the full chapter for two weeks. Grandma feels it would be better that way. Therefore, this Section Exercise lesson will be the First test. She may give the rest tomorrow as a second week. For those not impaired the answers are in the extras from pictures. Elsewise, starting with Question 1-13 y = 5 Across the upper part of the x, y-intercept. The line y = 5 should be 5 blocks above the x line perpendicular to it. It should cross through the y line. 1-14. x = -3 The line should be straight along the -3 cube from the place x and y-intercept each other. It should be perpendicular to the y line only straight up and down. 1-15 y= -2x The line runs diagonally through the x and y-interception running right through the dot -2 under the x line. all will have arrows on the ends of them. 1-16 y =4 -x In graphing this line the x and y cross perfectly opposite each other and this other line of y =4 -x diagonally through the 4th line or dot on both the x and the y lines. 1-17 4x + 3y =6 first solve it for the y by taking the 4x away from each side giving 3y = -4x + 6 Then dividing each side by 3 takes away the 3 from 3y side and making y = -4x/3 +2 which the answer to 1-17 a. Then b. will have the slope of -4/3 meaning the linear intercept the y line at the 2nd cube as y-intercept of 2 cubes above the x line. The linear will show diagonally through the 2 dots of each line x and y. The slope will go down 4 cubes from the linear for the -4 and 3 spots to the positive direction of right. in that pattern. 1-18. 3x -6y = 12 for a. the equation y = mx + form you must solve for the y first of -6y = -3x +12 in taking the 3x away from each side; then each side must have -6 divided from it giving -6y/-6 = -3x/-6 + 12/-6 that gives an answer of y = 1/2x -2 meaning the slope is 1/2 and y-intercept of -2 meaning the diagonal line graphed with the x, y intercept with the linear one cube up from the x line and 2 to the right and it will go through the y line at -2.
