Chemistry Introduction Finished
We are going to finish the Introduction of Chemistry with Problem Solving.
Service Description
Problem Solving starts with several steps which are the expanded on. Grandma is going to skip the list and go right into their elaborated actions. One, Clarifying the Problem by Identifying the facts-collecting what you know about the problem. Identifying the conditions of the current situation. Identify the questions that need answered. Visualize the problem making mental images even if necessary to draw a sketch or diagram, outline or write down symbols or equations. Establish the goal defining specific results to be accomplished through the problem-solving process. "It defines the purpose or function the solution is expected to achieve and serves as the basis for evaluating the solution." Second, Explore the sufficiency of the data organizing data and applying previous knowledge, skills, and understanding. Determine if new data needs to be collected. Third, Select a Strategy which is difficult but it says "a skilled problem solver uses the most efficient strategy" based on knowledge, experience, and a careful application of the clarify and explore steps of the problem-solving strategies. It says, "Some problems may require the use of a combination of strategies. A Trial-and-error search doesn't use information indicating on path to reach a goal. Blind search doesn't consider if they have explored a path. Systematic search is usually twice as efficient because it keeps track of paths already explored. Reduction method involves breaking the problem into a sequence of smaller parts by setting up subgoals. Their easier because they reduce the amount of search required to find the solution. "You can set up subgoals by working part way into a problem and then analyzing the partial goal to be achieved." It drops the problem restrictions that do not apply to the subgoal. By adding them up the subgoals you can solve the 'abstracted' problem. If use a strategy to "Work Backward" if too hard to reach a goal working forward. Figure where the goal came from to get the final step. Another method of strategy might be knowledge-based, including information already found. (With these pictures Grandma will have to finish for the impaired in another lesson.)
