Grandma's science snake
Grandma is giving an Electricity lesson with snakes.
Service Description
The next lesson to learn in Grandma's Place of Natural Learning is in the new Great Stem book by making a rising snake. Look to the images from the book. For those needing extra assistance refer to the previous Snake lesson. The first two pictures Talk about the paper snake from tissue paper rising up with electricity to look like a real snake called the Dancing Snake. The Next picture shows the materials necessary for the Stem of crepe paper, a plate to draw around, markers, scissors, and a balloon blown up and tied. It also shows on that third picture how a plate is put on a thin layer of the crepe paper and drawn around it. The third picture shows how a line is drawn from one edge of the paper circle to look like a curled snake about 1 1/2' wide to a narrower point in the middle. It shows how a mouth can be drawn and two eyes put on the top of the head. Then it shows how it can be cut out to look like a snake and pulled up by the balloon. The fifth picture shows how the balloon can be rubbed on the hair or clothing to get electricity on it showing marks of electricity. The sixth picture shows and talks about how electricity forms as friction from the rubbing of two items together and how it shows as lightning in a rainstorm. Grandma used this experiment to represent the serpent that talked to Eva in the "Bible."
