Service Description
Grandma's Place of Natural Learning is giving out more Stem projects about water. She will explain it to those impaired to see That in the 1st picture it explains that the STEM is illustrating a Whirlpool saying it is much like an hourglass only with water instead of sand. It starts with two tall bottles some tape a little adhesive putty, scissors, food coloring, and a measuring cup of water. It says to first stick a little of adhesive putty on the lids of the two bottles put upside down on a surface and a hole punched through with the scissors about 1/2". Then it says to pour a little food coloring in the cup of water. The 2nd picture explains Whirlpools a little better in saying that as water moves downward or as an oar is used to move a boat a circle moving downward is formed. At the bottom of this page, it explains how in engineering equipment with water moving downward air bubbles can form that slow the process of the movement. In the 4th and 3rd pictures, the STEM says to put the colored water in one bottle with the lids off and screw the lids with the adhesive putty back on the bottles. Then tape the two lids tight on the bottles and place the two bottles together with the adhesive putty. In the 5th picture it goes on to explain that if you turn the bottes around the water will stay i the water because of the air pressure in the other bottle keeps the water in the other bottle clear up through the water but the minute the bottles are moved in a spinning motion the air molecules go to the top and begin to move to the top of the bottle with water and make it move downward through to the other bottle. In real life science the picture in the bottom shows a tornado and says they feel this is part of how a tornado works.
