Part 9 Chapter 1 Chemistry
A diagram and maybe more
Service Description
A diagram was made to illustrate the stages the scientific process. Grandma will do her best to describe it with the 5 Steps going across in boxes with the Actions taken to accomplish each of them in boxes underneath each step: under Observing is collect data, measure, and experiment; under Develop Hypothesis are Organize and classify data along with Predict; Under Testing are Predicting and Experimenting; under Theorizing is Construct Models ; and under Announce Results is Tell results. Under these ten boxes are two other boxes. One has an arrow on its left side point upward to the Actions under Develop Hypothesis and an arrow on the right side pointing down from the Actions under Testing. This box says to Revise or reject Hypothesis. The box underneath it has an arrow on the left side pointing down from the Actions of Testing and an arrow pointing up to the action Tell results. In this other box it says Results confirmed to others. Then the book talks about Making Observations. It says, "Students of chemistry must be able to make good observations. The two types of observations are qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative observations involve descriptions of the nature of the substances under investigation. Quantitative observations involve making measurements to describe substances under observation. Students must be able to use the correct measurement terms accurately and to solve problems that require mathematical skill, as well as proper terminology for their correct solution." The book says it also has sections to review these topics coming next in more lessons.
